1 Speaking in the Austrian Lower House i a Czech member, Herr Preschek, declared that the Austro-German alliance was disastrous. It had plung„i Austria into the world war which Germany had started. The entire world was hostile to Austria, which suffered for Germany's crimes. Herr Preschek urged Austria to break loose. The Emperor Karl, addressing party leaders later, said he regretted the speech. The alliance with Germany was the foundation of Austria's security and the basis of her foreign policy. i
MUCH SLEEPING SICKNESS
EPIDEMIC IN HUNGARY. AMSTERDAM. July 3. Hungarian newspapers state that an extraordinary epidemic of sleeping sickness has broken out in consequence of the prevalence of debility. The disease differs from tropical sleeping sickness. The sufferers sleep for months and then die.
