HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
LITTLE BUSINESS TRANSACTED. [BT TELEGRAPH.— ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON. Tuesday. The House of Representatives met at 2.30 this afternoon. The Wangoriui Church Acre Amendment Bill was introduced by Mr. W. A.Veitoh (AVanganui), and read a first time, i Mr. Vernon H. Re e d, the new member (or the Bay of Islands, took the oath. Further petitions praying for early closing of hotel bars were" presented by various members. The Hon. G. W. Russell, in reply to Mr. R. McCallum (Wairan), said that the Revocation of Naturalisation Bill did not contemplate cancelling the naturalisation of persons born in the countries of Britain's allies. Mr. Massey, in' reply to Mr. A. Walker (Dnnedin North), said he was not prepared to say whether Cabinet would consider a proposal for the release of P. C. Webb, the member for Grey, from incarceration. He would require notice of the question. The Expiring Laws Continuance Bill was introduced by Governor's Message, and read a first time. The following Bills, wore introduced and read a first time Foxton Harbour Board Act, 1908, Amendment Bill (Mr. W. H. Field), Tauranga Harbour Act Amendment and Foreshore Vesting Bill {the Hon. W. H. Herries), Contractors Relief Bill (the Hon, A. L. Herdraan). The rest of the day was devoted to hearing the statements of the Prime Minister and Sir Joseph Ward in regard to their visit to England. An adjournment was made from 5.53 to 7.30 p.m., and the House rose at 10 p.m.
