The butter market is dull, and prices aro easier in anticipation of a further reduction in the maximum rates fixed to-morrow. Current quotations are. Danish, about 208s to 2023; Australian, 174s to 186 a; New Zealand, 180s to 190s. Cheese quotations are nominal. It is reported that Canada has refused Britain's offer to take her output at 10|d per lb f.0.b., on the ground that the price is too low in view of the present cost of manufacture. . SHEEPSKINS SALES.

A total of 1139 bundles was offered at the sheepskins sales. Prices generally were 2d above April rates, best lots advancing slightly more and ehort pelts less.

FRUIT AND PRODUCE. Business in the fruit and produce markets during the week has been fairly good. A much smaller volume of apples, both dessert and cooking, has come to hand, and especially prime-conditioned fruit is selling at. top pric 3, with a good demand. There is a. scarcity of cooking varieties. Pears are very scarce, and are selling at extreme rates; other local small fruit is short in supply, choice lemois are in demand. There has been a fair, quantity of Island oranges on. the market; the keeping Qualities are not good. Potatoes: The market is overstocked, with inferior and damaged shipments due to frost and blight. These shipments have to be sold promptly at any prices offering. Prima samples are fairly firm at Quotation. The onion market is firm, with short supplies and nigh prices ara being asked for the small stocks held ex store. Fresh eggs are still in demand at quotation. Farmers' butter remains the same v> last week. Poultry was in excellent demand: high prices were obtained for birds in pood condition. Pure-bred birds realised a high as 12s each. FIELD PRODUCE.

PROPERTY SALES. Messrs. Samuel Vaile and Sons, '.Ltd., held an auction sale at their rooms yesterday, when a bungalow at Remuera together with, three sections, offered by order of the first mortgagee, was sold for £900. Thnio houses, sold for removal en behalf of the City Council, were also disposed of—No. 62, Jennyn Street, for £165; house, Beach Road, for £11, and No. 50, Wynyard Street, £24.
