LAND MORTGAGE COMPANY. \ NEW ZEALAND AND RIVER PLATE. At the annual meeting of shareholders of the New Zealand and River Plate Land Mortgage Company, Ltd., held in London on the 9th inst., it was resolved to pay the usual dividend at the rate of 12 per cent, per annum, less the English income tax of 5s in the pound, the interim dividend paid in July last to be deducted therefrom; to add £27,000 to reserve fund, and to carry forward £15,840. The dividend on New Zealand shares will be payable to-morrow. BUTTER AND EGGS. The dairy produce committee has fixed the wholesale price of butter and effis for the week ending January 18, as follows:—Farmers' butter, first grade, lid per lb; fresh eggs, Is 2d per dozen. Tho New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, reports— At Westfield Btorc sale last Thursday, cattlo were penned in average numbers, and sold at late rates- Best dairy cow s and heifers £9 10s to £14 15s, others £6 10s to £8 15s; yearling to 18-months steers, £6 17a 6d to £8 17s; heifer calves, £2 17s to £4 &3; steer calves, £3 10s to £4 17s ; bulls, 7gno to Ugns; empty cows and heifers, £7 5s to £8 17s 6d. The cattle dogs sold on account of Mr. L. Short realised 7igns, Ogns.and 13gns respectively. A quantity of sundries sold at ruling prices. On Friday, at Albert Yards, horses were yarded in average numbers, and sold at late rates. Heavy draughts £25 to £34 10s, medium £17 to £26 15s j ponies, £4 10s to £7 10s; hacks. £8 to £12 10s; light harness horses, £7 10s to £14. A quantity of chaff and harness was also disposed of. At Papakura, on Monday, wo held our monthly sale. There was an average yarding, and practically everything was sold at the ruling high prices. Best dairy cows and heifers £10 to £13 10s, otheis £7 10s to £9 15s; bulls, in large numbers, £8 10s to £19, according to weight and quality; empty cows and heifers, £7 to £9 17s 6d; steer calves, £3 10s to £5 12s; heifer calves, £2 15 ato £5 5s (one extra choice pen of heifer calves made £5 16s); yearling to 18months steers, £6 17s Gd to £9 ss; yearling to 18-months heifers, £5 15 to £7 17s 6d. No grown steers were yarded. Beef was penned in extra large numbers, selling firmly throughout, cows selling to £14 17s 6d, steers to £16 ss.

At Pukekohe on Tuesday we had an extra large yarding, consisting mostly of young cattle. No growa cattle were yarded. Two to 2i-year-old steers, £10 to £11 17s 6d; yearling to 18-months steers, £6 10s to £9 17s 6d' steer calves. £3 38s to £5 lis; good heifer calves, £3 15s to £5 Is; inferior heifer calves, £2 10s to £3 14s : empty cows and heifers, £7 12s 6d to £10 2s 6d; bulls, £6 to £6 10s, according to weight and quality. Beef was penned in exceptionally large numbers and sold at lata rates, most _ being bought by freezing buyers; cows selling to £15 12s 6d: steers, £17 12s 6d. At Westfield fat stock market on Wednesday beef was penned in full numbers and mostly of good quality. Competition was keen, and the market showed a decided firmer tone. First quality sold to £2 10b per 1001b, prime £2 7s to £2 9s, cows and heifers £2 to £2 7s 6d per 1001b. Steers sold at from £13 2s 6d to £23 5s for a steer fatted by Mr. R. Ross.
