OLD SETTLER'S DEATH.

MRS. DAVID KENNEDY.

An old resident of Waikino, Mrs. David Kennedy, died there on Saturday last. Deceased, who was 69 years of ago, was the eldest daughter of the late Captain Charles and Mrs. ixoouiEon, who arrived in Auckland by the Duchess of Argyle, in' 1842. She was born in Auckland, was married at Thames, and resided there for two years. For the past 40 vears she had resided at Waikino. Mrs. Kennedy was one of the first settlers to take up her residence at Waikino and during her long residence in the district she made many friends. She took a keen interest in everything that tended to the advancement of the district and was especially active in patriotic matters. She is survived by her husband, one daughter, Mrs. A. Hill, of Waikino, and two sons—Mr. W. C. Kennedy, of Waikino, and Mr. D. E. Kennedy, at present in the United States.
