The cheese market is firm. Canadian is quoted at 126s to 130s. The retailers are apprehensive about supplies, fearing that, the Government will release very little.
.* "WHEAT AND FLOUR. The wheat market is firm and quiet. The flour market is firm. Australian patents are quoted at 59s to 59s 6d. PEAS AXQ BEANS. Peas are firm. New Zealand maples are quoted at 48s. _ The market for beans is strong. No New Zealand are offering. OATS. The markets is hardening. No La Plata are offering. SUGAR Prices are unchanged. METALS. Copper: Spot. £152 10s; three months, £143 10s. Electrolytic copper, £167 10s. Tin: Spot. £186 12s 6d ; three months, £163 12 fad. Lead: Spot. £30 10s: three months, £29 10s. FRUIT AND PRODUCE MARKET.
Business in the fruit and produce market during the week has been good, increased quantities of local early summer fruit- having come to hand. Any lines of choice quality are realising high" prices, and supplies are not equal to the demand. The Talune, from Fiji, arrived on Monday with the usual consignments of banana*, and excellent prices were obtained. The Makura, from Vancouver, is due with shipments of Canadian apples and American oranges. Both lines are wanted, ai.d good prices will rule. New potatoes have come forward in increased quantities, and the price is slightly lower than la-t week. Onions: The market is bare. Shipments are expected from Australia shortlv.
Vegetables of nil kinds are selling ex tremely well.
Fresh eggs and farmers' butter sold on a par with last week's quotations. Poultry: Heavy supplies were penned, and prices for best-conditioned birds were satisfactory. "FIELD PRODUCE.
