CITY V. LOWER WAIKATO. The City Rovers senior team travelled to ,Ngaruawahia on Saturday, and met and defeated the Lower Waikato representative team by 13 points to' 9. In the first spell Walters and Potiers scored tries, one of which was converted by Paul,, and he also converted a mark. Callaghan cot across for the home team, and City Rovers led 10 points to 5 at half-time. The Waikato team showed to much better advantage in

Hall, in the chair. The annual report stated that there were 77 members :on the roll. com% pared with 84, for the previous season, 'sever ral members having gone to the front. The financial position of the club was most satisfactory, there being a cash balance of £56 Is 9d, against £39 3s 8d last year. The annual tournament in February last had attracted a record entry, 56 teams having competed. The team from Mount Eden, skipped by Mr. Rankin, proved the winners, with Mr. V. Casey's Ponsonby team • as runneTs-up. The complimentary comments of the visitors spoke well for the popularity and success of the tournament. A team from the Rotorua Club, skipped by Mr. A. Brown, had won the Easter tournament at Cambridge. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year: President, Mr. W. W. P. Hall, re-elected; vice-presidents, Rev. D. Hird and Mr. G. M. It was decided that the club procure an Ashford litter for the use of wounded soldiers.

GOLF. CAMBRIDGE CLUB. [from OXTB OWN correspondent.] The Red Cross competition played at Cambridge last week was won by Mrs H. L. Nixon with a net score of 40. Miss F. Cox being second with 41.

HOCKEY. BENEFIT TO AMBULANCE. A match was played at Remuera on Saturday between the Areta and Mount Eden hockey teams, in aid of the St. John Ambulance Society. The weather was perfect, and the grounds in excellent order. There was a fair attendance of the public Mount Eden won ■ a closely-conte*ed game by 3 goals to 2. The University team visited Pukekohe and played a local team, the result being a drawn game, 3 goals each. MOUNT EDEN DEFEATS ARETA. The Mount Eden • Areta match was played on No. 1 ground, Remuera. In the first spell Preston and Hough scored for Areta and Woolford for Mount Eden. The latter team monopolised the scoring in the second spell and, Woolford scoring two more goals, The game ended:— Mount Eden ... ... ' ... ... 3 Areta : 2 Mr. L. C. Kent woe referee. PUKEKOHE V. UNIVERSITY. A mixed University team travelled to Pukekohe on Saturday. Play was even throughout the game. In the first spell Fawcett and Alexander, for University, and Moffit, for Pukekohe, scored goals, and in the second swell Beecroft scored for University and Moffit and Cotter for Pukekohe.
