GRANT OF £100 TO SERGEANT BASSETT. [FBOM 00l OWN CORRESFO»n>E-VT-] LONDON. July 4No fewer than 90 men on the New Zealand staff, and 75 per cent, of the London staff, of the National Bank of New Zealand, are serving with the colours. Two members of the Dominion staff have been decorated for great bravery in the e -"7T namely, C. R. G. Bassett (Auckland), who won the Victoria Cross, and Corporal B. N. lavender (Christchurch), who won the D.C.M. Mr. Robert Logan, on beha,: of the directors and shareholders of the bank, at to-day's meeting in London, congratulated these voting men on their welldeserved honour." And his statement that a grant of £100 had been made to Basset* as a mark of their appreciation at , his distinguished conduct was greeted with loud applause.
