EFFICACY OF VACCINATION.
REPORT BY DR. VALINTINE
[BY TEXHGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON. Friday. In a report on the outbreak of small-pox on the Willochra, which was tabled today by the Hon. G. W. Russell, Dr. Valintine draws attention to the efficacy of vaccination. The latest returns, he says, show that not 1 per cent, of the children burn in the Dominion have been vaccinated- Dr. Watt, health officer at Dunedin, in his report, cites as evidence that vaccination affords absolute protection against small-pox, the fact that of five people in constant attendance upon the. 'Willochra patients, not one contracted the disease. These people were all protectedone by an attack of small-pox when a child, and the others by recent vaccination- They adopted no special precautions, being confident that they were immune against the disease.
