HAND-TOHAND FIGHTING SOUTH OF LA BASSEE. illeccirod April 27. 11 a.m.) Amsterdam, April 26. A German communique states:-" British attacks south of La Basse were repulsed after severe hand-to-hand fighting. We took two lines of trenches in front of Hill 542, in the Vosges."
