MINISTERS IN AUCKLAND.
«■ . The Hen. James Allen, Minister for Defence, arrived in Auckland from New Plymouth yesterday morning. Ho attended the formal opening ceremony in connection with the Auckland Boys' Grammar School in the afternoon, and after transacting some business related to his Department left for Wellington by last evening's Main Trunk express. Ho was accompanied by his private sccrctarv, Mr. G. F. Dixon. Tho Hon. A. M. Myers, Minister for Customs and Munitions, attended the opening of the Auckland Boys' Grammar School yesterday afternoon, and was also present at the annual reunion of tho Old Boys' Association in the evening. In the morning matters in connection with th« administration of his Department kept the Minister's attention ongaged. Mr. Myers will probably leave for Wellington on Friday. Tho Minister for Education, tho Hon. J. A. Hanan, was engaged in dealing with several minor Departmental matter yesterday morning. In the afternoon ho attended tho opening ceremony in connection with the Boys' Grammar Schotl. The Minister will leave for Botorua by this morning's express. He will be in Hamilton to-morrow, and will visit Matangi, where a new school is being asked for. His departure for Wellington is timed for Saturday afternoon. The Hon. Dr. Poraare, member of the Executive Council representing the Maori race, travelled as far as Te Kuiti by yesterday's mid-day south-bound express. He •was to join the night express there and return to Wellington.
