BOWLING.

EASTER TOURNAMENT,*

ROCKY NOOK'S SUCCESS.

Thb Easter -tournament arranged by the Auckland bowling centre was. with the exception of part of the final of the pairs match, brought to a successful conclusion yesterday.

The club executives' match was won, for the second year in succession, by tho Rocky Nook team skipped by Bouskill. the first year players' championship match also by a Rocky Nook team skipped by Keatley, and the pairs match ,is in its final stage, the contesting teams being drawn from tho Rocky Nook and Devonport Clubs and skipped by Martin and Mclntyre respectively. The arrangements for the tournament, carefully made by the centre executive, with Mr. C. C. Laurie, president, and Mr. A. M. Bryden, secretary, worked with automatic precision. The fine weather also assisted, particularly for a period so late in the season, to bring the tournament to an oasly close, and it is safe to Bay that tho gathering of bowlers i this Easter wan one- of tho most enjoyable yet experienced in the history of the game in this city. As a compliment to the centre president, Mr. C. C. Laurie, who is also president of the Carlton Club, tho finals were played on tho club's now green at Fairfax Road. Situated amid charming, surroundings of native bush, through which peep the red roofs and vari-coloured walls of suburban residences, and with vistas of, the harbour and Rangitoto Island in the distance, there I is much to please the eye, but perhaps the most enjoyment was gained from the excellent qualities of the green, which, although in its first year of play, has been so well and truly laid that it played true on either hand. The tournament test has given the new Carlton green a place among the best of the province. The up-to-date appointments on the club's property also make it a worthy place at which to hold important tournament games. The success of the Rocky Nook-teams has been a pronounced feature of the tournament. The club executives' match and first-year players' championship has been won by teams from the club, and the final of the pairs match is beins fought out by a team from the club. _ The galla.it fight made by the Rawhiti rink in tho final of the club executives' match earned many admirers for that young club, and it is I possible a win to Long's Rawhiti team I would have been even more popular than that, gained by Bouskill's Rocky Nook rink.
