RETURNED SOLDIERS.

' ASSOCIATION SUGGESTED.

A' meeting of returned soldiers was held in the Soldiers' Club last evening to consider proposals mae'e by Captain Donald Simson for the affiliation of all returned soldiers' clubs in New Zealand. Captain Kimson, who is an old Auckland boy, saw service in the South African war and during the present war in the operations on (iallipoli. There was a moderate attendance and Lieut. J. D. McCormish was voted to the ouairCaptain Simton said he was firmly of opinion that .'soldiers' clubs should be formed in every centre throughout New Zealand, and, he would like to see information bureaux established in connection with the- vaiious soldiers' clubs. There were many 'things connected with a soldier's life'thjat could be watched over by a committee? having charge of an information burqau. Captain ,pimson went on to say that the New Zealand public had not realised their responsibility to the returned soldier, i.iey regiiled him with tea and cakes, and werol then very glad to get rid of him. The! New Zealand public were too busy money-making, and tho returned man was, in many instances, regarded as a nuisance. / The country had got to wake up and Realise exactly what it owed to the New Zealand Expeditionary Force. Captainpimson then moved: "That this meeting of returned soldiers recognises the advantages of and supports the formation of an association of returned New Zealand foldiers yitl. branches in everv town in the Dominion where possible.'' Private VY. F. Berry seconded the motion, which was carried unanimously. It was further agreed to call a general meeting to appoint delegates to a conferem* fc-i be held in Wellington.
