* Lower, t Higher. BUTTER AND CHEESE. The butter market is steady. Danish is quoted at 174s to 176s per cwt. Australian, choicest quality, is in small supply and nominally quoted at 158s to 160s. The bulk of the butter offering consists of secondary quality, which is in moderate demand at 150s to 1545. New Zealand butter, choicest, is quoted at 162s to 1645, and secondary at 156s to 158s. ' The cheen?. market is very firm. The bulk of the cheese arriving is being used to fill contracts. There' is a strong demand fpr the remainder, New Zealand Boiling at 105s to 106s per cwt and Canadian at 108s.

WHEAT, FLOUR AND OATS. The wheat market is firm in sympathy with America. A New South Wales cargo afloat in a sailing vessel is reported sold at 67s 6d per quarter. Flour is firm. Oats are very firm. Theie aro no La Plata offering. "

BEANS AND PEAS. - The market for beans is quiet, and fending to lower prices. The market for peas is quiet and firm. • METALS. Copper: Spot, £124 to £124 10s per ton; three months, £121 to £121 10s. ■ Tin: Spot, £199 5s to £199 10s per ton; three months, £198 to £188 ss. x v Lead Spot, £35 5s per ' ton; •' three months, £35 7s 6& Standard silver: 308 per ox. > SUGAR. The market is unchanged since last report. WOOL. There was good competition at the wool sales to-day. All .classes wore harder, especially Merinos. In the Bradford market there was considerable inquiry with a stronger tone for all sorts. Messrs. Dalgetv and Company, Limited, are in receipt of the following cablegram from their head office, London, under date 13th inst.:—"The wool sales continue very firm. Merinos are 5 .per cent, above March closing rates. Crossbreds are at par, except shabby medium x quality, which is occasionally id _ lower; lambs dearer. Sheepskins: Merinos, jd to Jd dearer; crossbreds, unchanged as compared with March 2." FRUIT AND PRODUCE MARKET. Business in .the fruit and produce markets lias been very good during, the week, and all lines forward of good quality have been well sold? Pears, dessert and cooking, aro weaker. Pears: Best dessert, up to 8s; good, 4s 6d to ss; others, dessert, 4s 6d to sm. Grapes: Hot-house,-Is to Is 3d per lb. Tomatoes!
