TRUTH AMERICA HAS NOT YET GRASPED.
ALLIES PROTECTING OTHERS BESIDES THEMSELVES. (Received October 11. 7.30 p.m.) London, October 10. American newspapers are denouncing the Armenian massacres. Many declare that the Turks are following in the footsteps of the Teuton. The Tribune remarks that America has not yet fully grasped the truth that the allies are protecting not only themselvefe, but the whole world from more Armenias and other Belgiums. In a letter to Mr. T. P. O'Connor, Mr. A. J. Balfour, First Lord of the Admiralty, says:—" Amidst all the horrors of the war, nothing is more horrible than the treatment of the Armenians. The Germans could surely end this disgraceful condition of affairs." Mr. Balfour suggests that German-Americans should use their influence to check the barbarities." The London Daily Telegraph points out that Enver Pasha acted thus to avenge his defeats. It recalls Count Reventlo'w's unscrupulous and callous judgment that German public opinion holds this is a matter concerning Turkey alone. •
