The house-to-house canvass for subscrip- . tions to the funis organised by the Canvassing Committee of the Patriotic and War Relief Association will be made next week. The chairman of the committee, Hon. George Fowlds, stated yesterday , that the campaign would be started next '. i Monday morning, and the committee de : sires that contributions should be ready for payment to the canvassers when they call, so that their efforts need not be delayed. Every authorised collector will be sup- , plied with official receipt books, md every , i subscriber is requested to see that he gets , i a proper receipt so as to make sure that no bogus collectors can take advantage of the public generosity. UKTFIOATION SCHEME. <- SUPPORTED IN TE KUITI. I [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] Te Awamutu, Monday. A conference was held here to-day between the Mayors of Hamilton, Cambridge, and Te Awamutu, to define the boundaries of the districts to be controlled by the three administering centres. A satisfactory arrangement was arrived at in regard to the area to be placed under the Te Awamutu Committee's control. A further conference is to be held at Hamilton between the Mayors of Cambridge, • Te Kuiti, and Hamilton, for the purpose r of finally defining the boundaries of their i respective districts. The Mayor of Auckland, Mr. J. H. ! Gunson, met the trustees of the Te Awamutu Patriotic Fund at a conference this ' afternoon, and a satisfactory settlement ; was arrived at. A largely-attended and enthusiastic public meeting was held this ' evening in the Town Hall, when the fol- : lowing resolution was unanimously car--1 ried : —" That this meeting thanks the [ Mayor of Auckland for his address reJ garding the proposal for the unification j of the various patriotic funds of the Auckl land Province, of which it cordially ap--1 proves, and that this meeting requests • the favourable consideration of the trustees of the local fund of the same."
