Marshall, officer commanding '. * the Rifle Clubs Reserve Corps, takes the form of y a periscope for a- rifle, which, if found practicable, "should prove invaluable in trench warfare and scouting. It can be carried in the pocket and attached to the rifle whan required, enabling the soldier, while lying at any angle behind cover, to shoot his opponent. The appliance was tested at Trentham Rifle Range on Wednesday, and proved very satisfactory, the marksmen obtaining many " bull's-eyes.* It is proposed to further test the invention at Trentham, and to place it before the War Office in London.
