WAIHI PATRIOTIC CARNIVAL. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Waihi, Saturday. The amateur boxing tournament, promoted with the object of augmenting the Sick and Wounded Soldiers' Fund, was concluded at tho Academy Theatre last evening, before a largo audience, the results were as follows : —■ Feather-weight.—Final Ritchie beat Davis. Light-weight.— Weatherly beat Stanley. Final: McLeary beat Weatherly. Welter-weight.—Final: Edwards beat O'Brien. , ~ , Middle-weight.—Final: Regan beat Mudgeway. The financial results were satisfactory; the fund should benefit to the extent of £50»
HARDWICK V. POOLEY. The men matched to box at the Town Hall to-morrow evening for the professional heavy-weight championship of- Australasia, Harold Hardwick and Albert Pooley. have now finished their heavy training work, and both are reported to be in the best physical condition for the contest. They are of similar build: each man is 6ft in height, but Pooley has the slight advantage of 51b in weight. The contest is being eagerly anticipated. Seats may be reserved at Wildman and Arey's.
