MOHMANDS DEFEATED.
HEAVY LOSSES INFLICTED.

' * Only 16 were killed and 88 wounded on • the British side. . _ * I* was officially reported a week a<*o that 12,000 Bunerwals occupied the passes in the Peshawar region. A British column from Rustak took the offensive in the direction of Malandri Pass, and inflicted severe losses on the Bunerwals, who - ' are now completely disheartened and scattering. Meanwhile a hostile column from Upperawat rowed down the river and attacked Sandaki. They were repulsed with heavy loss, and dispersed. The Mobraands are a Pathan tribe who inhabit the hill country to the north-west of Peshawar, in the North-west Frontier province of India. They are Afghans by descent and are closely connected with the. Bibki» wals.
