V Sixty aeroplanes took part in the raid on the German encampment in the Forest of Houthulet, in France. Excellent results were obtained. The forest is a vast military camp. A portion of it- : lias been converted into a veritable town. -• The barracks were full of troops. The munition depots and camps were lit' by electricity. When the aeroplanes were sighted the lights were' extinguished, i Tho German anti-aircraft guns were used ineffectually, the moonlight rendering searchlights useless. Many of the allies' aeroplanes made several journeys to replenish their supplies of explosives, of which four tons were thrown on the barracks and depots- Several explosions took place, and a great panic was observed.' A French official communique issued from Paris on August 27 stated that a combined bombardment, in which French, British, and Belgian aeroplanes, and British naval aeroplanes, participated, caused several fires in the Forest of Houthulct, in France. • ' ,-. '■' • - . .".
