The steamer Hororata (9400 tons) has brought 136 wounded NewSouth Wales soldiers and 30 Queensland soldiers. The former include Private Robson. the first Australian to receive the Distinguished Conduct Medal. In the face of Turkish fire he brought in a box of ammunition and water bottles. Thirtyfour men fell in the fire-swept zone between the trenches. Subsequently he shot 13 Turks in an adjacent trench single-handed. The wounded men received a stirring public welcome.
