BUDGET AND WAR FUND.
FARMERS' CONTRIBUTIONS. DECISION" RESCINDED/ [BY TELEGRAPH.— ASSOCIATION.] Whakcarei, Monday. In view of the Budget proposals, .shareholders of the Whangarei Dairy Company, at the annual meeting, passed a resolution. " That last year's resolution voting id per lb on butter-fat as a contribution to the Wnr Fund be rescinded." It was declared that contributing to the War Fund in this way meant reducing taxation on men having much more money than dairymen, viz., tho biggest land and property owners of the Dominion. No objection was made to the directors having the power to make donations to the local Sick and Wounded Fund. The chairman. Mr. Henry Wakelin, declared that high prices of butter-fat were like blood money, 'lhey know what was the cause of the high prices—to their sorrow. He hoped shareholders would show their gratitude. The meeting decided to empower the directors to make donations as deemed advisable, but not to the War Fund, and that the limit of donations be £130, equal to what jd per lb on butter-fat produced last season.
