STOCKS AND SHARES.
BUSINESS DONE YESTERDAY.
Business for the week opened very quietly on the Stock Exchange yesterday. In standard stocks, New Zealand Insurances were in demand" at £5 13s, but sellers held for £5 17s. Buyers were . prepared to give 83s for South British Insurances, but sellers did not quote. A sale of Auckland Gas (con.) was reported at 14s 7d. His Majesty's Theatre stocks were done at (19s).
Waihis were available at 36s 9d, and ] buyers quoted 35s 9d. At the first call sellers asked 22s for Waihi Grand Junctions, and buyers offered 21s 6d. Sellers' quotations dropped to 2Ls 9d at the two succeeding calls, but buyers did not advance on 21? 6d. Talismans were looked for at 17s 3d, but sellers wanted 18s. AUCKLAND STOCK EXCHANGE.
