Elizabeth' Allison Woods "pleaded not guilty to drunkenness and soliciting. After hearing the evidence the magistrate sentenced her to a month's imprisonment. • ' Michael ourran ? 'who made his third appearance within six months on charges of insobriety, stated that he was not drunk when arrested 011 Saturday, and his condition was solely due to fits. He admitted, however, taking some liquor to cure him. Senior-Sergeant Rutledge said accused had had fits on Sunday. The magistrate convicted, prohibited, and then , discharged accused. . , , ; Two first offenders for drunkenness were convicted and discharged. Two were ordered to forfeit their bail, amounting, to 10s and £1 respectively. ; Two others were each fined ss, in default 24 hours imSslas'Joan' was fined 10s for being disorderly', while drunk. i William 'Norman Cowley was sentenced to a month's imprisonment' for failing to comply with a maintenance order, the warrant to bo stisnended, provided he pays 5s a week off the arrears, and also keeps up his payments under the order. •_ _ Martha King was fined £1 for failing to comply with the .terms of a prohibition order. , . . R. Porter, licensee of the Wynyard Arms Hotel, was convicted and discharged for not having a light burning outside his premises after 10 p.m. Peter Gardiner was fined £1 and costs 7s for riding a motor-bicycle on a footpath. Alexander Parsons Was fined 10s and costs 7s for carrying a greater number of passengers in «i waggonette than allowed bv his license. ' • '< Francis Cannon was fined £1 for committing a nuisance in a public place.
