HOT AS BAD AS THE GERMAN
GOOD WORD FOR THE TURKS Sydney, July 20. The official Australian correspondent, Mr. C. E. W. Bean, referring to the alleged atrocities, says: " The Turk is rather a maligned person. He certainly does not compare with the German for ' frightfulness.' At the same time, the army may contain Khurds, Circassians and other wild men, who would be responsible for anything. Once the dead body of a New Zealander, stripped of its clothes, was thrown up on the parapet of a trench which the Turks retook, but there was no evidence whatever that the body was harmed in any way."
