POLICE COURT NEWS.

BREACHES OF THE BY-LAWS.

A short sitting of the Police Court yesterday was presided over by Mr. E. C. Cutten, S.M.

Thomas Long, Chris. Brown, Mrs. Brook, William Holt Harris, Douglas Rose, Horace Stewart, Lavina Shine, Alfred Tibbutt, and Henry Winn were each convicted of keeping an unregistered dog and were ordered to pay the costs of the prosecutions. George Quintal!, for a similar offence, was fined 5s and ordered to pay the costs, amounting to 7s. Two drivers, H. Thompson and J. T. Cook, were convicted on charges of failing to keep as near as practicable to the lefthand side of Quay Street, and were ordered to pay costs. For driving a motor-car without a proper rear light John Charles Allen was fined 10s and ordered to pay 15s costs. Ada Jane Rafferty was ordered to pay 7b costs for failing to register a 'birth within the prescribed time. Leslie Brett, for riding a motor-bicycle along Mount Eden Road at an excessive speed, was fined £2 and ordered to pay costs amounting to 235.

A fine of 10s was imposed on Henrv Foreman for throwing a tone in Newton Road.

One first offender on a charge of drunkenness was fined 5s and another forfeited his bail. 10s. Michael Kiely and Frank Kelly, both second offenders, were fined 10s each, while Albert Spark was convicted and discharged on charges of drunkenness and of using obscene langnace. John Green, who committed a breach of his prohibition order, was convicted and discharged.
