SHORTAGE OF CHAFF.
FODDER FROM NEW ZEALAND,

The Minister for Agriculture, Mr. Ashford, has announced that 1000 tons of American chaff, due in -July, will be divided amongst the necessitous farmers and railway contractors. It cost the Government £11 per ton. Eleven thousand tons of wheat are due in August.

Senator G. F. Pearce, Federal Defence Minister, states that the Defence Department could save £21,000 by the purchase of 4000 tons of New . Zealand, fodder, the difference between the New Zealand and Australian price being £4; 5s a ton. '
