CARRIAGE OF PRODUCE. [BY TELEGRAPH.PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Palmebston Nobth, Tuesday. The annual meeting of the National Dairy Association was held this morning, in connection with the Winter Show. Mr. J. Norton presided. It was resolved that in view of the increasing demand for separators, the National Dairy Association take immediate steps to prevent the exploitation of dairy farmers by sole agencies. A committee representing the whole of the North Island was set up to take steps to further the transport of dairy produce. A motion was passed expressing appreciation of the steps taken by the Mussey Government to provide carriage for New Zealand produce, also urging that means be adopted to arrange carriage (or next season.
The chairman urged that the manufacture of. rennet be taken up in New Zealand, as- in the past supplies had been drawn from countries now at war. He suggested that the Government be asked not to encourage the enlistment of skilled dairy workers, as much dairy produce was required by the armies. The consignment policy of factories had been very satisfactory, undreamt-of prices having been secured.
The retiring directors and the auditor were re-elected.
