Alison. | The Fisn-market Wharf Committee reported upon the request of the City n Council that the wharf at the fish-market * should bo made the oily landing place in l the harbour for fish. The committee recommended :— {l) That- the request to fix j the Fish-market Whan' as the sole landing c place fur fish was impracticable; and (2) 1 that the cost of dredging, etc., would lxj £ £1250, which expenditure the board was ' not prepared to undertake at present. * Mr. Eiitrican opposed the adoption of i the report. It was understood that if a ( fish market were established it would be c essential to have the site appointed as the c only landing place for fish. He could not c see. that it was impracticable to do so. t The City Council intended asking Parlia- t ment for extended powers in connection I c with the fish-market, and the board should , co-operate with the council. He moved t that the report be referred back to the 1 committee for reconsideration in threw c months. Other members agreed as to the desir- . ability of the board co-operating with the [ council in matters of public interest, and t Mr. Entrican's motion was carried. r i WAIUKU IMPROVEMENTS. J s t SCALE OF CHARGES FIXED. t On the recommendation of the Manukau r Harbour Committee, it was decided to ex- c pend a further sum of £100 in deepening t the channel in the Waiuku Creek. Also it was decided to approve the plan r of the shed at the Waiuku Wharf, and to a call tenders for the work; to give notice c to the Northern Steamship Company to remove its sheds immediately ; that the' \ charges for the use of the wharf be : (a) f shipping wharfage, Is per vessel per day c or part of a day; (b) goods wharfage, one t half the rates fixed for the use of the t Onehunga Wharf; (c) that a by-law, em- r bodying these charges, be enacted. 1 l MISCELLANEOUS. , • i EMPLOYEES IN THE FORCES. j Payments to employees of the board who * have joined the Expeditionary Forces were t considered. It was agreed that, subject i to validating legislation, casual employees joining the forces should receive half-pay t for six months, if they have been in the I board's sen-ice over four years, and that 1 those who had served the board for over 1 one year and under four should be paid > half-pay for three months. ] The New Zealand- Power-boat Associa- 1 tion asked the board either to erect for : it a clubhouse or to grant a site for the purpose. The request was referred to the board in committee, the engineer to report. Notification was received that the Minister for Marine had approved of the proposed change in the colour of the light at the entrance to O'Neill's Point channel from white to red. Tlio following resolution was carried :-— '• That any cargo left lying in the sheds shall, after 14 days, be removed to the top lloor of the sheds\on Queen's Wharf, and be charged storage at top floor rates."
