GERMAN TRENCHES EXPLODED BY BRITISH.
GROUND GAINED ON THE FLANDERS FRONT.
AIRMEN ATTACK ELECTRIC POWER-STATION AT LA BASSEE.
Wellington, June 20.
The High Commissioner reports from London on June 20:—
"Sir John French reports to-night that yesterday north of levoge the British occupied German trenches along a frontage of 250 yards, which tho enemy was forced to abandon. The British captured during the week 213 prisoners, including two officers, three machine-guns and one full gas cylinder.
"North-east of Armentieres the British exploded several mines yesterday and destroyed enemy trenches. Our artillery and rifle-fire inflicted casualties on the enemy while trying to escape after the explosion The electrical power-station at La Bassee was successfully bombed yesterday by our airmen."
