Melbourne, June 19. The commission which is investigating the price of meat reports that owing to the scarcity of stock present values aro not expected to ease for some months. It is stated that, it is impracticable to fix prices. There is no evidence, it is stated, that the price has been artificially raised by the vendors!' NEW ZEALANDER'S SUGGESTION. REMOVAL OF IMPORT TAX, (Received Juno 20. i p.m.) Sydney, June 19. A visiting New Zealand pastoralist agent suggests that a simple way of relieving the meat market would be to induce the Government to lift the impart tax on sheep, and thus give New Zealcndi exporters an opportunity of competingNew Zealand, he state?, has more sheeji [than are required to satisfy its needs.
