MISSIONARIES IN CHINA.
Mr. W. H. Conway, who lias spent 20 years in tho China Inland Mission work, gave an address at the Y.M.C.A. men's meeting yesterday afternoon. After referring to* tho Boxer rising and the perilous times through which the missionaries had to pass, Mr. Conway related many striking instances of the remarkable way in which the Chinese assimilated Christian teaching. The policy of tho China Inland. Mission, was to train native workers who could propagate the Gospel messago among their fellows far more effectively than European teachers.
Mr. Arthur Parrisli, who returned to Trentham on Saturday, was farewelled in Tarry's Hall, Northcote, prior to his departure by a large number of his friends, and presented with a silver wristlet watch and safety razor.
