WOOD-PULP INDUSTRY.
GOVERNMENT ASSISTANCE.
[BY TELEGRAPH. — ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Friday. New regulations under clause 141 of the Land Act, dealing with the wood-pulp industry, have been gazetted. They lay down the conditions under which persons or companies may lease forest land from the State for the production of wood-pulp, and authorise the Government to remit rents and royalties in connection with the first 500 tons of pulp. The Minister for Lands, Mr. Massey, stated to-day that there was no special significance to be attached to the revision of the regulation at the present juncture. The Government would like to see the industry established in the Dominion, and had power to offer fair terms to anyone who would undertake, it. '
