The season (opened 6n Saturday, when 12 teams took pprt in the junior grade competition. six iP the intermediate grade, and four in the senior grade, with Training College a bye. l\he standard of play showed general improvement, although no team gave the finished displays wo were accustomed to Bee from St. David's, who unfortunately cannot raise ft teajp this year. The keenest cWnteat in the junior grade was that between ,the Victoria. Maori Girls and Technical College A. team, which resulted in a draw 8 all. In the intermediate grade Kia Ora gave a good display, audi should make a bold bid for ohampionshipl honours. The senior gradje seems to bo ft foregone conclusion for Kjwis A team, which is greatly strengthened by the inclusion of Twila Solomon and other Grammar School Old Girls. I There will he no> matches on July 3, all players being requested to give ' their services in tho tea kiosk at the sports carnival at the Domain. . (A school tournament is being arranged fojf that day, and entries must reach the sedrotary before next Mon-' day. )
