BANKRUPTCY CASES.
—- —♦ DISCHARGE GRANTED. ONE CASE DEFERRED. A sitting of the Supremo Court in Bankruptcy yesterday was presided over by Mr. Justice Hosking. Henry Olson, storekeeper, of Waihopo, and Harold Alfred Cornes, trading as H. A. Comes and Co., drapers, of Swanson Street, were granted their discharges. The official assignee did not oppose the application of Tasinan Bishop Skeels, painter, of Takapuna. After looking into tho case, His Honor said bankrupt had taken up contracts before receiving his discharge. One ought not to encourage people when bankrupt to enter into business or contract debts. That was the kind of thing the provisions of the Bankruptcy Act, in regard to suspensions, were designed to stop. Mr. Fisher said the creditors passed a resolution facilitating debtor's discharge owing to exceptional circumstances. Ho was unable to get work as a journeyman painter, because he had not served an apprenticeship, and he had to depend on small contracts. For some time before the bankruptcy he and his wife'had lived on almost nothing. His Honor questioned Skcels, and then stated that if the Court did not indicate its sense of impropriety it could not consistently deal with the next man. This would mean giving tho provisions of the Act tho go-by. He would suspend the order for discharge for three months, when it would be granted. The next sitting in Bankruptcy was fixed for August 5.
