VICTORIA CROSS AIRMAN.
ESCAPE FROM THE GERMANS
London, June 13.
Lieutenant Warneford, the British airman, who recently dropped bombs on a Zeppelin in Flanders, and destroyed it, had to descend for thirtyfive minutes behind the German lines when the petrol fell out of his tanks and the engines stopped. Before he had the engines started again he was subjected to a hail of bullets from a number of German troops who arrived on the scene.
