BOXING CARNIVALS.
IRELAND J. MITCHELL. The Northern Boxing Association's carnival at the Town Hall on Thursday evening promises to provide a good evening's sport. The order of the bouts will be: Craig v. Wylie. Closs v. Robertson, and McHugh v. Sharpe before tho. interval, and Ireland <•. Mitchell after tho interval. The three amateur bouts will be of four 3-minute rounds, and the professional contest of fifteen 3-minute rounds. Mitchell, who has been training for the middle-weight championship at the Police Gymnasium, is roporfed to be in excellent condition. Ho had McHugh as a sparring partner and completed his training last evening. Ireland will arrive here by Main Trunk train tomorrow and will stay at the Waitemata Hotel while in Auckland. . Tho Northern Bonne Association has donated £10 10s to tho Hospital Fhip Fund, and i suggestion has been made that the gloves used in the championship contest be auctioned, and tho proceeds donated to the I fund. ' TAUMABUNUI CARNIVAL. The Taumanmui Boxing Association will hold an amateur carnival on June 26. The winner of the Closs-Robertson bout will be matched with Taylor, a King Country middleweight. _________»«._
