THE BALTIC LITTORAL.

GERMANS LOSE GROUND.

PLAN OF CAMPAIGN FAILS.

(Received May 31. 2.5 am.)

Pethograd, May 30.

The military authorities are attaching greater importance to the invasion of the Baltic provinces, where the Germans are being steadily reinforced. Their troops are grouped in throe bodies at Libau, Rossieny, and East Shavli. '

It is stated that von Falkonhausen, who commands the Germans, brought his troops from France.

The Germans have lost ground considerably during the past fortnight. The original idea was to fight on a short front, and drive a wedge with massed forces. The Russian strategy compelled the Germans to extend their line, and they thus lost the initial advantage.
