SHEERNESS EXPLOSION.
SHIP "MELTED AWAY,"
EYEWITNESS'S AOCOUNT.
MEN IN VICINITY KILLED.

London, May 28.
The wreckage from the Princess Irene resembled matchwood. One man was seen swimming in a liftbelt and was believed to be a survivor, but it was found that he belonged to another ship and jumped overboard, believing his own ship was doomed. . ( A seaman on the deck of a neighbouring .ship narrates that he saw a huge flame springing from the deck of the Princess Irene, followed by smoke, and then a series of crackling explosions followed the main explosion. A great volume of smoke and coal dust rose in the air, and the Princess Irene simply melted away. The explosion seemed stun everyone for a few moments, and then boat crews were ordered to pick up the survivors.
