ITALIAN CAMPAIGN.
/ INVASION 01? AUSTRIA.
NEWSPAPER COMMENT.
DEFIANCE FROM BUDAPESTH. Times and Sydney Sun Services. ' , London, May 27. " The Times' military correspondent writes " The Italian offensive, following bo quickly on the declaration of war, indicates that mobilisation I was probably complete before diplomatic relations were suspended. The march towards the Isonzo is proof of the confidence with which the army seeks an early and serious encounter 'with the hereditary enemy. Italy's entry into the field at this juncture will be' a severe blow to the AustroGerman strategy, which has been gambling with a great offensive in Galicia in the hope that a startling success would cow Italy into passivity. It will be interesting to watch the effect of the Italian move on future Austro-German strategy."
A wireless message from Berlin says that Germany disdainfully awaits Italy's' reasons for her treachery and blackmail. ' It is stated officially in Berlin that German property in Italy, including all ships, will hot be confiscated, but will be preserved, according to international law.
A message from Buda Pesth says that Count Stephen Tisza, Premier of Hungary, in the Chamber of Deputies, referring to Italy's intervention said: "The Hungarian nation will wage war to its last breath against all the devils of hell, and force viotory from fate." Count Apponyi, Leader of the Opposition, said that while his party had not identified itself with the Government's policy, he declared that Italy had not a shadow of a pretext for her procedure.
