"TRUTH" ABOUT THE WAR.

GERMAN PROPAGANDA IN ITALY. Writing from Pisa to an English paper, Mr. Richard Bagot states nnder date November 20:— As an example of the world-wide German propaganda of hatred towards Great Britain, you will perhaps allow me to state that three, panfphlets, written in Italian, and published in Berlin, are at present being circulated throughout Italy. The first of these pamphlets, entitled, " The Truth Concerning the War,'' contains 94 pages of the most astounding falsehoods. But perhaps the most dishonourable falsehood among them is that printed on the cover, announcing that the booklet in question is sold for 30 centimes, and that the entire proceeds of the sales are devoted to the " Croce Rossa." The statement is a trick to persuade unsuspicious Italians into purchasing the pamphlet under the impression that by so doing they are assisting their Red Cross Society. That society has issued an emphatic disclaimer of any connection with the production.

The,second pamphlet professes to be an Italian translation of the German " White Book" issued shortly after the beginning of the war. In it the whole of Sir Eaward Grey's telegrams and despatches to our late Ambassador at Berlin are either suppressed or altered in sense so as to make the British Government directly responsible for the war. The third pamphlet is entitled "A Month of War,'' and pretends to be a collection of diaries and letters kept by private soldiers. So far-reaching and wellorganised are the German bureaus for the dissemination of falsehoods in foreign parts that these pamphlets find their way to the most humble cafes and workmen's clubs, even in such remote districts as that from which I write.
