RHHONDDA'S HARRY LAUOER.
HUMOUR OF A SOLDIER. Mas. McKexzie, Penygraig, has received a letter from the Duchess of Westminster informing her of tho arrival in the 3rd Base Hospital of her husband, who was in a critical condition, having been wounded in the back and log, and also suffering from frostbitten feet.
McKenzie is the Harry Lauder of the Black Watch Regiment, and his letters home have been all written in a humorous vein. His last letter was as follows:
" I am feeling nil right in myself, only my feet are so bad that I got a size 10 on my left foot and an eight' on the right. We have just been relieved, our trench being half-full of water. I used to grumble about working in water when 1 was home, but I don't know whether I am a soldier or a sailor. We don't get down-hearted. We were relieved by the 2nd Welsh. As it was dark, I could not see any of them, but as soon as I shouted, ' Good old MidRhondda!' there were plenty of liands to grip me in the dark. Well, you know liow difficult it is to get underclothing here. I made my officer laugh when I got in here. Going through a deserted house, I came across a lady's combinations, and nice warm things they were, too. I was rigged up in it because I threw my clothing away. I am. going to keep it as a souvenir."
