GERMAN DOCTORS AS SPIES.

ROUND-UP IN FLANDERS. I.v spite of elaborate precautions there still seems to be a deal of spying in Flanders. Even as far back as Calais a naturalised German was arrested, beiii" caught red-handed signalling to a German submarine which was lying a few miles off the shore. In consequence a general rounding-up of spies in Flanders has taken place and ,a good many have already been arrested. Two German officers, disguised in the uniforms < f English doctors, were caught. They had been i.ble to circulate with freedom night and day. and everybody was praising them for' their zeal in attending (he wounded.

Two ha.vkera found hiding in some bushes have also been arrested. Also, according to the Nord .Maritime, two "Belgian" gendarmes were arrested while making their rounds near Ramscappelle. It appears that these two had begged tlieic officers to allow them to make a tour of inspection along the- lines in the hope of apprehending any suspicious individuals. Eventually the gendarmes proved to be Germans who at the outbreak of war had succeeded in enlisting by sumo means or other in the Jlelgu.ii gendarmerie. Their desire to make J a tour of the front was only for tho purpose of making signals to t)io enemy.
