ACCESS TO NARROW NECK BEACH.
•Sir.—l have read with interest a letter in ho Herald regarding access to Narrow Nerk Beach, and all ratepayers of Devonport flight to be grateful to Mr. J. A. Walker for drawing attention to the attempt which is being made to induce the Devonpoit Borough Council to dose the 100 ft roadway to which he refers. This public reserve of 22 noes abuts oil Narrow Xeck Bea-h. and with vviy '.ittic coil will riake one o: the finest recreation grounds I • lose to the city. With the old stretch "i swamp, viiidi has been an eye-sore tor years past, turned into a racecourse. i<t which purpose I understand that- the Jifkoy ( iult purchased this land from the Auckland Harbour Board, and the ha I- i ••rue of 22 «".cres laid out as a recreation ::i'>und, i':i. part of Dcvnnport will be i i-hsitiwablv improved, and to do away witii tlie roadway leading from Lake Koad to \auxl;al| and Cheltenham Bench would be i:tt'.c iess than scandalous. ijurelv tin.'.c not another case of \us ted interests at «o>is If so, wake up Devonport.
