EFFICIENT FIRE BRIGADES.
COMPETITION AT CAMBRIDGE.

Cambridge, Monday. The first fire brigade demonstration held in Cambridge took place to-day, and was well attended by the public, the takings at the gate amounting to £37. All the events were keenly contested. Among the contestants were teams from Green Lane, Newmarket, Railway, Devonport, Waihi, Cambridge, Praukton Junction, Masterton, Hamilton, Te Awamutu, and Onehunga. The Onehunga men proved their superiority by winning the shield. The following are the awards: —
One-man Dressing Competition: Oneaunga, 54 4-ss, 1; Hamilton, 595, 2; Waihi, 60 4-ss, 3. Eighteen teams competed. Five-men Competition: Green Lane, 78 2-ss, 1; Devonport, 79 l-ss, 2; Onehunga, 82 4-ss, 3. Seven teams competed. Three-men Competition: Onehunga, 48 l-ss, 1; Cambridge, 54 l-ss, 2; Devonport. 53 l-ss, 3. Ten teams competed. Hose Reel and Ladder for Five Men Competition : Onehunga 7445, 1; Masterton, 80 2-ss, 2. Devonport and Waihi, each 86s, tied for third place. Baby Rescue, for two men: Onehunca, 21 4-ss, 1; Hamilton, 23 l-ss, 2; Cambridge, 25 2-ss, 3. Nine teams competed. Five-men Carrying Competition: Onehunga, 27 l-ss. 1; Hamilton, 38 15s, 2; Cambridge, 39 4-ss, 3.
