DASHING CHARGE BY RUSSIAN CAVALRY.
GERMANS EXPELLED FROM SUWALKI REGION.
AUSTRIANS RETREAT FROM RUSSIAN TERRITORY.

An official communique states :—" Fighting west of the Xiemen is developing in our favour. Our cavalry, after a stubborn light with German cavalry and infantry between Calvaria and Suwalki, on Friday, made a dashing charge, sabring and capturing many and expelling the «cnemy from the district.
"The Austrians, after a grave defeat in the Schilovzy region in Bessarabia, withdrew from our frontier, where they arc fortifying positions. The Austrians bombarded and occupied the fortress of Galeszikow. When the Russians dislodged them they found that a Russian telephonist had had his tongue cut out for refusing to give information. The telephonist was promoted and decorated.''
