RUSSIAN TOWN BOMBARDED
ONE CIVILIAN KILLED. (Received April 1, 2 a.m.) Petroqrad, Marc? 31. German warships fired 200 shells into Libau, a Russian town on the Baltic, killing one civilian. RESERVISTS' DEPENDENTS. CLOTHING FOR, THE WINTER. The Patriotic Guild of the Civic League, under the direction of the Mayoress, Mrs. C. J. Parr, has been very active during the summer in finishing work done T»y the Patriotic League for the wives and children of Imperial reservists. The guild's first effort was to give the wives and children as merry a Christmas as possible. Over 300 children and their mothers were entertained at the Town Hall, and each child received a present. This function proved to be a great success. Since Christmas, members of the guild have been working steadily in the making of clothing for the winter. Thus far, garments «for 120 children have been completed. The report of the work of the guild was placed before the executive of the Patriotic League by the Mayoress, who made an appeal for £25 with which to purchase material to complete the winter clothing outfit for the* children. In prantinc the application, the members of the executive expressed their appreciation o£ the excellent work that was being accomplished by the guild.
