A PARIS CABWOMAN.
Some years ago a woman cabdriver appeared on the Pans boulevards, and some inventive genius immediately heralded tc the world that women were replacing men as cabdriv-rs in Paris. This , abwoman is still with us. but hers is, the Standard sr.vs, i lonely sisterhood.
A few women were placed at the tubway ranees to punch tickets. ;nd the news wa; flashed that, stripped of all its male population, Paris found it necessary to out women in charge of the rubv.ay transit. A few women tramway conductors, and the decision was formed that women were the only conductors to be seer..
What really happened was that the wives of employes took their positions until their return, a very simple arrangement, and on? far from showing that Paris resembled at any time an Adamless Paradise.
