The newspapers are. giving prominence to the rise in food prices. The Board of Trade estimates that the prices in the large towns have advanced 19 per cent, since July.

The committee of the Labour Party recommends the Government to take possession of all wheat, paying 35s to 40s a quarter for it, and to sell at the market price. If there is a surplus the Government should pay the owners a bounty of ."> per cent., and use the balance for assisting State revenue.
