Gcmtowx Monday. As- elderly gumdigger named Alexander Beaton has been found burned to death in his hut. It is supposed that the hut became ignited during the night. An inquest will be held to-morrow.

The accident occurred through deceased's gun exploding. either of his companions was looking towards him at the time. He was the son of Mr. H. Q. Williams, managing director of the Otago Brush Company, who is at pre., -t in Auckland taking part in the dominion bowling tournament.

Gisborne. Monday. At the inquest on Herni Kopiri, aged 60, whose body was found in the Waipaoa River a verdict of accidental drowning vas returned. The evidence was inconelusive as to how he sot into the river.

Stratford. Monday. A six -year-old boy named Francis fteddon McCullough, son of Mr. W. F. McCullough, was Killed yesterday by a milk cart, driven by his brother, overturning on top of him on the Fast Road.
